DILG, PNP bring the BIDA program to communities thru Bisikleta sa Pamayanan

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Mandaluyong City Police Station in partnership with the Eastern Police District brought the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program and the fight against illegal drugs to the communities through the BIDA Bisikleta sa Pamayanan.

DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. lauded the PNP-Mandaluyong City for its BIDA Bisikleta sa Pamayanan initiative and touted it as an innovative approach to raise awareness on the BIDA Program and the national government’s fight against illegal drugs.

There is a need to bring the message and vision of the BIDA Program down at the grassroots level at itong Bisikleta sa Pamayanan ay isang mahusay na hakbang upang maisagawa ito. I commend the PNP-Mandaluyong City for this project,” Abalos said.

The DILG Chief also participated in the oath-taking ceremony for the PNP bike patrollers and Mandaluyong bikers’ groups who signed a pledge of commitment to the BIDA Bisikleta sa Pamayanan initiative to solidify their resolve to actively promote a drug-free and healthier community.

He said that through the BIDA Bisikleta, participants will explore different routes within the city of Mandaluyong together with the PNP bike patrollers every week. All participants of all ages are welcome to join the BIDA Bisikleta sa Pamayanan every Saturday.

The BIDA Bisikleta sa Pamayanan launch was also attended by Eastern Police District Director PBGen Wilson C. Asueta, Mandaluyong City Chief of Police PCOL Cesar T. Gerente Mandaluyong City Sports Director Noel Bernard, and Mandaluyong City Councilor Hon. Reginald S. Antiojo. DILG
