CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Several scholars of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) 3 (Central Luzon) were among the Top 10 passers in various licensure examinations given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) this year.
Marites C. Batac, senior research specialist and DOST-3 Scholarship Unit head said in a recent statement that leading the top-notchers are Lee Henry D. Castro, who placed No. 1 in the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering board examination given in September and Angelo Jacobo, who topped the Electronics and Communications Engineering examinations given in October.
Castro graduated from the Bataan Peninsula State University – Abucay campus while Jacobo graduated from the Bulacan State University in Malolos City. Both were DOST – Science Education Institute (SEI) scholars under the Merit Scholarship Program.
Together with Castro in the Top 10 of the same licensure examination was John Henry L. Tenorio, who graduated from the Central Luzon State University, while Joshua Maniti, who graduated from the Tarlac State University, joined Jacobo, as No. 3 in the same examination.
“It is a double celebration for Jacobo, Maniti, and Tenorio as they also graduated as summa cum laude, and cum laude, respectively. They and other DOST-SEI scholars who graduated with Latin honors will be recognized for their outstanding academic achievements in the 2023 In Touch with Excellence awarding ceremonies to be held shortly this year,” Batac said.
Two other DOST scholars made it to the Top 10 in the Psychometrician licensure examination held in August. They are John Kenneth Padel from the Bataan Peninsula State University and Irish Angelique Campo from the Angeles University Foundation, who placed No. 8 and 10, respectively.
Other DOST scholars who placed among the Top 10 in their respective board examinations were Romel Gadia, who placed second in the April 2023 Electronics and Communications Engineering examinations while Rekarlo Punzalan landed in the eighth spot in the May 2023 licensure examinations for teachers. Both were honor graduates of the Tarlac State University.
Meanwhile, the successful DOST scholars in the region who passed their respective professional licensure examinations are as follows: licensure examination for teachers, 33; mechanical engineering, 26; electrical engineering, 21; civil engineering, 17; electronics and communications engineering, 16; agricultural and biosystems engineering, 15; psychometrician, 8; and fisheries, 2.
