New high-tech equipment upgrades at Ospital ng Malabon

MANILA —ย The Malabon City government, led by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval inaugurated new radiology equipment at the Ospital ng Malabon (OSMAL) on Thursday, March 21, expanding free services for residents.

The new high-technology equipment includes:

* Digital radiography (X-ray)
* 3D/4D-capable sonography (ultrasound)
* First-ever 2D echocardiography service at OSMAL

โ€œThis is a priority for Malabon to improve services for residents needing quality medical care,โ€ said Mayor Jeannie Sandoval.

โ€œThis new equipment will greatly help residents with heart conditions. They won’t need to travel to faraway hospitals anymore,โ€ Sandoval added.

The digital X-ray reduces radiation exposure by 70-80 percent compared to traditional film X-rays, according to OSMAL Chief Dr. Jennifer Jane Amolo Lim. The upgraded ultrasound allows for more advanced procedures like congenital anomaly screening and 3D imaging.

The 2D echocardiography machine uses sound waves to provide a non-invasive assessment of heart health. It offers more detailed information than electrocardiogram (ECG) tests.

โ€œResidents can avail of these services for free,โ€ Dr. Lim said. โ€œThey can visit the OSMAL Outpatient Department for consultation from 8 am to 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays. Emergency cases are served 24/7 at the Emergency Care Department.โ€

The local government is committed to providing more service upgrades at OSMAL, Dr. Lim added.

โ€œResidents can expect more accessible and affordable medical services in the future,โ€ Lim added. (PIA-NCR)
