DOST Region 2 Ignites STEM Enthusiasm with Robotics Kit Turnover at TCSHS

November 5, 2023 – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 2, in its pursuit of Smart Education in Tuguegarao City, successfully handed over Robotics Kits to Tuguegarao City Science High School (TCSHS).

This milestone is part of the innovative project โ€œAdvancing Classroom-Based Collaboration and Enhancing Laboratory Equipment through the Provision of Robotics and Technological Equipment to Science-Oriented Students,โ€ known simply as Project ACCELERATES.

Project ACCELERATES, an initiative by DOST Region 2, aims to empower science-oriented students by enhancing classroom-based collaboration and laboratory experiences through advanced technology.

Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera, DOST Region 2 Regional Director, delivered an inspiring message during the ceremony. She emphasized that these kits will be an instrument to teach the students the value of perseverance, the importance of learning from failure, and the joy of solving complex problems.

Moreover, the robotic kits provided are designed to meet the needs of modern STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. They include various components such as microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators, allowing students to delve into the world of robotics, automation, and hands-on experimentation.

Along with DOST 02 Regional Director Virginia G. Bilgera, Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting-Que, DepEd officials, Creotec Philippines Inc., and Schools Division Office (SDO) Tuguegarao City were present to commend TCSHS for integrating robotics and technological equipment into their educational journey.

Dr. Rosechelle M. Cauilan, Principal and the Project Leader at TCSHS, expressed her gratitude for the initiative as the project is expected to have a profound impact on science education in the region, also, a step forward in the journey to equip the youth of Tuguegarao City.

By providing schools with advanced technology and equipment, this aims to ignite a passion for STEM subjects and nurture the next generation of Filipino scientists and innovators. (DOST R02)
