DOST-assisted Tablea Maker in Bukidnon secures FDA Product Registration

Department of Science and Technology 10 (DOST 10) assisted enterprise, Toffe’s Tablea Manufacturing in San Fernando, Bukidnon, recently secured its Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) on April 15, 2024, becoming one of the registered and approved tablea producers in Northern Mindanao. 

Mr. Roel Tejada, owner of Toffe’s Tablea Manufacturing decided to pursue and comply with requirements for the grant of  Certificate of Product Registration by FDA in order to expand its market such as in malls and supermarkets. 

As a beneficiary of DOST’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), the firm has benefited from significant improvements in its tablea production processes and improved product quality. It has also contributed to the creation of four additional employment opportunities in the locality.

SETUP is DOST’s program encouraging and assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt technological innovations to improve their products, services, operations and increase their productivity and competitiveness.

The firm succeeded in producing high-quality products by integrating Science and Technology (S&T) advancements, with support from the Manufacturing Productivity Extension Program (MPEX) offered by DOST 10. 

Toffe’s has notably expanded its market reach, acquiring six new stores in Bukidnon and Cagayan De Oro City, resulting in a sales surge of 15.92% following intervention from DOST.

She also expressed her thanks to the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratories of DOST Region 10 for granting a 50% discount on laboratory fees.

Toffe’s actively engages in the community through various feeding programs offering its tablea showcasing traditional Filipino food such as sikwate (hot choco) and champorado

Moreover, Mr. Roel Tejada is supporting local farmers by sharing Good Agricultural Practices in Cacao Production.  This initiative aims to empower fellow farmers in producing high-quality cacao beans, addressing market challenges, and fostering sustainability in the agricultural sector in the province of Bukidnon.
