Brawner: Military readiness vital for security, disaster response

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief, Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. has reiterated the need to beef up the country’s military readiness to allow it to better respond to external security challenges and disaster response missions.

Brawner made the remark in a meeting with the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) at the Shangri-la The Fort in Taguig City, recently, an AFP statement said.

Addressing the MAP forum, Gen. Brawner outlined the AFP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the countryโ€™s defense posture. He highlighted the AFP’s role in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, (and) the importance of enhancing military readiness to address external security challenges,” the statement added.

Brawner also tackled the significance of collaborative defense initiatives with partner forces through joint training and exercises. In addition, the AFP chief also discussed national security and regional geopolitics with MAP members.

Brawner’s meeting with the MAP highlights the AFPโ€™s efforts to raise public awareness on critical national issues and foster deeper collaboration between the military and civilian sectors to address shared challenges. (PNA)
