Processing of BJMP applications in Southwestern Tagalog region starts

BATANGAS CITY, Batangas — As part of its first recruitment wave for the year, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mimaropa is on the lookout for young professionals who wish to pursue career in the jail service.

According to its Information Officer, Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo, they are intensifying their information drive on the recruitment process to encourage more able-bodied Filipino to join the government agency that manages and supervises jails in the country.

Basic qualifications for incoming BJMP officers are having a college degree and eligibility including the Career Service Professional (Civil Service Commission); R.A. No. 1080 (Bar and Board Examination) and Penology Officer Exam (Civil Service Commission).

Aside from being 1.57 meters tall for men and 1.52 meters tall for women, applicants must also be between 21-30 years old and have good moral character.

Part of the recruitment process is a series of tests and evaluation involving the applicant’s physical and mental health condition and a community background investigation.

Anglo, however, emphasized that the recruitment process is free and warned applicants to be wary of scammers looking to exploit hopefuls by offering assistance in exchange for money.

“I would like to remind applicants that the recruitment process is free. Be vigilant and do not approach anyone offering help in exchange for money,” said Anglo.

An entry level jail officer will earn a net pay of P37,488, inclusive of hazard pay, subsistence allowance, rice allowance, and clothing and laundry allowance.

Aspiring recruits may submit their application or inquire at the nearest local BJMP offices in the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romnlon and Palawan.

The recruitment process will help in the management of the 19 district, city, and municipal jails regionwide, which house 2,057 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs). (PR)
