LEGAZPI CITY — The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) recognized several of its personnel, units, and partner agencies for their dedication, hard work, and support to the programs and activities of the Philippine National Police as part of the 29th Police Community Relations Month celebration at Camp Simeon Ola here on Wednesday.
Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, highlighted the contributions and dedication of the awardees in fostering a safer and more cohesive community during the event with the theme “Ligtas ka sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
“We commend the recipients for their outstanding achievements and encourage all members of the police force to continue striving for excellence. Their efforts not only enhance the effectiveness of the PNP but also strengthen the bond between the police and the communities they serve,” Calubaquib said in an interview.
The awardees were Lt. Col. Rogelyn Peratero and Capt. Ric Riganales, Outstanding Police Community Affairs and Development (PCAD) Senior and Junior Police Commissioned Officers for 2024, respectively; and Chief Master Sergeant Fernandico Manalo and Staff Sergeant Jose Pachero, Outstanding PCAD Senior and Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officers.
Police stations that excelled in community and service-oriented policing system projects were also honored.
The Sta. Elena Municipal Police Station (MPS) of the Camarines Norte Provincial Police Office (PPO), Donsol MPS of Sorsogon PPO, and Magarao MPS of Camarines Sur PPO secured the top three positions for outstanding achievements in community and service-oriented policing system projects in the region.
Police stations in the special category, the Camarines Norte 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Naga City Mobile Force Company, and Sorsogon 2nd PMFC, were also recognized for their notable gains.
“The celebration of Police Community Relations Month serves as a continuous reminder of the commitment of the police to serve the people with their full capacities and capabilities,” Calubaquib said.
In an interview, Peratero, one of the awardees, thanked the PNP organization through the PRO5 for the recognition that uplifts the morale of the police personnel.
“I really appreciate the efforts and recognition given to us by our PRO5 Regional Director, Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon, since he saw that PNP personnel can give more, not just to law enforcement but also to doing something that provides changes to human lives,” she said.
Peratero has led initiatives that played a key role in improving the relationship between the police and the people and in implementing programs that empower local communities.
Her acts of goodwill included the “Libreng Pabinyag” that provided free baptism ceremonies to over 100 children and “Libreng Kasal”, which facilitated marriage ceremonies free of charge for 57 couples.
“For me, it’s an advocacy, and with or without recognition, I will do it again and again. Baptism is a basic right so in simple ways, we help our children and women have a decent way of living. With the collaboration of other stakeholders, we facilitated and let the people and the community feel that the government in working for their welfare,” she said.
Peratero called on other PNP personnel to do their best to serve the Bicolano people and change lives. (PNA)
