The Philippines and New Zealand are working on elevating their diplomatic relationship to a comprehensive partnership.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon had a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the recently concluded 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Laos.
Both leaders are looking forward to stronger and more vibrant ties.
In his remarks on Friday, President Marcos said the Proposed Roadmap to Comprehensive Partnership 2024-2025 between the Philippines and New Zealand is currently being finalized by the concerned government agencies.
โI think, the roadmap thatโs being finalized now we should have it ready by the 60th anniversary of [the] establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries,โ President Marcos said.
โSo, I think thatโs well on its way. Quite frankly, there are no real obstacles. Itโs just a question of finalizing the language,โ President Marcos told Prime Minister Luxon.
President Marcos made the remarks when Prime Minister Luxon asked the Chief Executive about the roadmap and what needs to be discussed โto keep that moving forward and to get there.โ
โI think weโve made some good progress โฆ and continued progress on the roadmap,โ the NZ Prime Minister told President Marcos.
