BATANGAS CITY, Batangas — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office MIMAROPA on Wednesday reported that the New Year’s celebrations and festivities in its 19 manned jail facilities were generally peaceful.
“As to the assessment, generally peaceful regionwide,” BJMP MIMAROPA Information Officer, Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo told reporters in an issued press statement.
Anglo said the BJMP’s tightened security and vigilance of jail personnel helped in the maintenance of a generally peaceful celebration of the New Year with zero incidents of jailbreaks, commotions, or even escape attempts.
In a separate statement, BJMP MIMAROPA director Jail Senior Superintendent Clarence Mayangao commended the personnel for their sacrifices to ensure a peaceful celebration in all jail facilities in the region throughout the holiday season.
“My appreciation and thanks to the efforts of jail officers and officials who spent the New Year’s Eve guarding and being of help to all persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and ensuring a peaceful celebration to welcome the year 2025,” said Mayangao.
Mayangao visited jail facilities in MIMAROPA before the New Year celebration to check the orderliness of jails in handling visitors. He also directed jail units to exercise extra efforts to beef up their security to prevent any jail incidents under their respective areas of responsibility.
The achievements posted by BJMP MIMAROPA came after a thorough inspection of the jails, including the dormitories of Puerto Princesa City, Taytay, Odiongan, Mamburao, Sablayan, San Jose and Romblon. (IO-MIMAROPA)
