Major infra projects in Cavite to improve connectivity in Calabarzon – PBBM

MANILA — Caviteños will soon experience faster and more convenient travels to and from the province with various key infrastructure projects underway, according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

In his speech during the distribution of financial aid to farmers and fisherfolk in Cavite, President Marcos highlighted big-ticket projects in the province which will improve the inter-regional connectivity in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (Calabarzon) region.

The infrastructure projects include the Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension project and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway- Cavite Segment at South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 4.

“Sa larangan ng imprastruktura, malapit na pong matapos ang ating LRT [Line] 1 Cavite Extension project. Ito po ay magbibigay ng kaginhawaan sa ating mga pasahero,” he said.

“Kasalukuyan na rin pong ginagawa ang Cavite-Laguna Expressway-Cavite Segment at South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 4 para maging mabilis at maginhawa ang paglalakbay ng ating mga kababayan.”

The construction of the PhP64.9 billion LRT Line 1 Cavite Extension project remains on track. The project will add 11.7 kilometers of new railway line that will extend the LRT Line 1 from Baclaran Terminal to Niog Station in Bacoor, Cavite.

The project is expected to reduce travel time from Baclaran to Bacoor from one hour and 10 minutes to 25 minutes.

Once completed, the railway line is expected to accommodate an additional 300,000 passengers of the LRT-1 system in its first year of full operation.

The CALAX project, on the other hand, is a 44.58-kilometer expressway connecting the CAVITEX in Kawit, Cavite and SLEX-Mamplasan interchange in Biñan, Laguna.

The PhP35.7 billion project aims to reduce travel time between Kawit and Biñan from 1.5 hours to 45 minutes.

Aside from the two projects, the Chief Executive also highlighted the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project, which is seen to mitigate flood risk in the Cavite Industrial Area.

President Marcos said the initiatives undertaken in Cavite reflect the commitment of the government to uplift the quality of life of Filipinos in Calabarzon. (PND)
