JAPANESE PM KISHIDA ON A TWO-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE PHILIPPINES

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will undertake an official visit to the Philippines on November 3 to 4, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Monday.

โ€œPresident Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will officially welcome Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during the ceremonies at the Malacaรฑan Palace on 03 November 2023,โ€ the DFA said in a press statement.

โ€œThe two leaders will hold a bilateral meeting to discuss areas of mutual concern such as political, security, economic and development cooperation, as well as people-to-people ties,โ€ it added.

The Japanese leader and the President are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues, and reaffirm the excellent relations between the Philippines and Japan, which was elevated into a Strategic Partnership in 2011.

President Marcos undertook his official visit to Japan in February 2023, sealing $13 billion worth of agreements that were seen to yield thousands of jobs for Filipinos.

During his visit, Marcos had bilateral meeting with Kishida, had an Imperial Audience with Their Majesties The Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, and also met with various business leaders and investors in Japan.ย ย | PND
