LEGAZPI CITY โ€“ Learners from three public schools in Albay took part in the World Read Aloud Day celebration through their Albay Provincial Library and Information Center (APLIC) on Wednesday.

Students, parents, and teachers from Albay Central School, Bagumbayan Central School, and EM’s Barrio Elementary School attended the event held at the Albay Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall here.

During the event, Albay Acting Vice Governor Rey Bragais, emphasized the importance of reading, saying that it allows people, especially students, to learn new things and broaden their imagination and knowledge.

“Reading will also transport you to other places. I encourage all students to study hard, as it will help you achieve your goals in the future,” he said.

Bragais added that the activity would also boost the students’ confidence and enhance their oral communication skills.

At the event, students, together with a guest storyteller, read a story together aimed at inspiring young learners to develop a deeper appreciation for reading and to recognize its vital role in lifelong learning.

“Today’s activity proved that stories can bring everyone closer, entice our imagination, and inspire our everyday lives,” said Amelyn Baustisa, Albay provincial librarian.

Bautista also expressed confidence the activity would further boost the learners’ passion for reading. World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) is a global campaign that advocates literacy promotion and strives to make reading and writing accessible to the public.(PNA)
