Investing in the Next Generation of Filipino Scientists and Innovators

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA), through Kapihan sa Ilocos, features the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the Ilocos Region as it highlights the DOST–Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Undergraduate Scholarship Program and its continuing efforts to nurture the next generation of Filipino scientists, engineers, and innovators.

The discussion highlights the scholarship opportunities available to incoming college students, providing comprehensive support throughout their studies—from tuition and other school fees, learning materials and connectivity, and monthly living allowances to transportation, insurance, thesis support, and other educational assistance.

DOST also underscores its Research Dissemination Grant, which gives scholars additional support when they are invited to present their thesis or research at local or international conferences, helping them share their work and contribute to the wider scientific community.

More than providing financial assistance, the scholarship program opens doors for talented Filipino youth to pursue careers in science and technology while helping build a strong pool of scientists, engineers, and other professionals who contribute to the country’s scientific advancement and development.

Through these initiatives, DOST continues to invest in Filipino talent and human resources, giving young people greater access to quality education, opportunities to develop their skills, and pathways toward meaningful careers that serve the nation.

Through Kapihan sa Ilocos, PIA brings government programs and opportunities closer to communities, helping students and their families make informed decisions about their education and discover pathways toward careers that shape the future of Philippine science and technology.

Investing in young minds today means building a more innovative, resilient, and competitive Philippines tomorrow. (PIA Ilocos Region))
