MANILA CITY — The local government of Manila has opened 2,500 new job opportunities for residents during the Kalinga sa Maynila forum held in Pandacan Wednesday, August 21.
The job fair, spearheaded by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – National Capital Region and DOLE National Capital Region (NCR) – Manila Field Office, offered positions to a wide range of applicants, including high school graduates, college undergraduates, college graduates, and technical and vocational graduates.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan expressed her commitment to providing employment opportunities for city residents.
“We are committed to creating a more inclusive and prosperous Manila,” she said.
“This job fair is just one of our many initiatives to empower our residents and help them achieve their full potential,” she added.
The mayor highlighted the success of the job fair, noting that several applicants were hired on the spot.
She congratulated the newly employed individuals and vowed that the city government would continue to hold job fairs at every Kalinga sa Maynila forum, which are held in city barangays every Wednesday.
Lacuna-Pangan provided practical advice to jobseekers planning to attend future job fairs, urging them to dress casually and bring at least 10 copies of their resumes. She also emphasized the importance of bringing their own ballpens and adhering to standard health protocols.
The Kalinga sa Maynila forum serves as a platform for residents to access various city government services. During the forum, Lacuna-Pangan brings with her the heads of offices, bureaus, and departments, making it easier for residents to seek assistance and address their concerns.
Outside each Kalinga venue, stalls are set up representing the various departments and offices, allowing residents to directly engage with city officials and seek assistance on a range of issues, including permits, licenses, and other government services.
The city government’s commitment to providing employment opportunities and accessible government services underscores its dedication to improving the lives of its residents.
